Tax Incentive

In addition to our extensive range of creative and technical services, Windmill Lane also offers advisory and administrative services on Ireland’s Section 481 Tax Incentive for Film and Television digital production and post-production.

Section 481 is a tax credit, incentivizing film and TV, animation, VFX / Post and creative documentary production in Ireland.

The rate of tax credit is worth up to 32% of eligible Irish expenditure. It is available on all goods and services sourced in Ireland and includes production, post-production and VFX.  In addition there is currently a 2% uplift for projects shooting in the regions, bringing the value up to 34% in these circumstances.

Crucially for most productions, including Post & VFX, the application must be made to the Minister at least 21 working days prior to the commencement of production, thus making it very attractive in comparison with other incentives.

The team at Windmill Lane can advise, support and administer the process to help you get the best value for your production.  We are experienced in working with the Irish tax authorities and have extensive links with all the professional disciplines required to efficiently process tax incentive applications.
