John O’Connor graduated from the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology in 2005 with a Degree in Film & Video Production, specialising in editing and kicked off his career in Windmill Lane the following year. Since then, he has built up a wealth of editing experience and accolades.
He has worked on numerous award winning films and TV shows and has received editing craft awards from ICAD and tvads.ie.
His film career really geared up in 2011 when the short film he edited, Pentecost (Directed by Peter McDonald) landed an Oscar nomination.
Since then he worked on many features including multiple outings with director John Butler including The Stag / The Bachelor Weekend (2013) and Handsome Devil (2016).
In documentary film, recent work includes Netflix's Hostage to the Devil (2016) and Ken Wardrop's The Piano Lesson (2017)
Other film drama credits include Mary McGuckian's The Price of Desire (2015), Dave Tynan's The Cherishing (2016) and most recently Stephen Burke's escape film Maze (2017) .
