Five Minutes of Heaven
- Client: Big Fish Films, Ruby Films, BBC
- Director: Oliver Hirschbiegel
Five Minutes of Heaven has won Best Director and Best Screenplay awards at the 2009 Sundance Festival. Oliver Hirschbiegel’s film stars Liam Neeson and James Nesbitt and is set in both the present day and at the height of the troubles in Northern Ireland during the 1980’s.The film was shot on S16mm and lit by DOP Rory O’Brien. Windmill did the whole DI grade and VFX for the film with the Mill in London doing both the scanning and film out to 35mm. Windmill’s colourist Dave Hughes graded the 1980’s material with an authentic television news look of the period while reverting back to a modern look for present day. Windmill’s VFX artist John Kennedy spent many hours removing modern day signage and satellite dishes from the period.
