Stars Go Racing

The new series Stars Go Racing starts tonight at 8:30 PM on RTE. The series was produced by Mairéad Whelan and directed by Gerry Nelson and Ciaran Tanham for Animo TV Ltd.

In the series, six well known personalities will get to learn what it takes to become a horse trainer, as they work alongside some of the best names in the business. Singer Linda Martin will work with trainer David Marnane; hotelier and TV presenter Francis Brennan will work with trainer Joanna Morgan; weatherwoman Jean Byrne is paired with trainer Willie McCreery; presenter Ella McSweeney will work with trainer Michael Halford; singer Mike Denver will work with trainer Adrian McGuinness and Munster rugby’s Alan Quinlan will work with trainer Jessica Harrington.

Each week, the show will come from a different location across Ireland as our new trainers strive to qualify for the final by competing in real races at Limerick, Bellewstown, Killarney and the Curragh. Five of the six will go through to compete for the Leopardstown Cup. ‘Stars Go Racing’ brings viewers the passion, excitement and authentically-Irish flavor of horse racing across the country, during the summer season, as six celebrity-led teams battle it out to win the trophy.

The programme was edited by Windmill’s Janice Toomey, online edited by Alan Sullivan, sound mixed by John Griffin with graphics by Owen Derby and Jenny Keane.
