John O’Connor Editorial - Programming Reel
John O’Connor graduated from the Dun Laoghaire Insitute of Art, Design and Technology in 2005 with a Degree in Film & Video Production. He has been working in Windmill Lane
since the start of 2006; working for his first year as a Programming Assistant Editor; and then moving on to Commercials Assistant Editor through 2007.
In early 2008 John was promoted to Offline Editor and has since worked on large number of high profile jobs in Film, Documentary & Entertainment fields.
In 2009 he edited the comedy sketch series “Your Bad Self” (Dir: John Butler) for Treasure Films, which was screened in early 2010 to positive critical response and picked up an IFTA for Best Entertainment.
In 2010, John edited the first 2 shows for the highly successful “The Truth About Travellers” (Dir: Owen McArdle) for TV3 which drew record viewing figures and picked up an IFTA nomination. Also in 2010 he completed two shows for a TV3 series called “Farmers: A Year on the Land” (Dir: Steve Lock) which was broadcast in 2011. Other recent credits include 2 episodes of “Stars Go Racing” a reality TV program for Animo (Dir: Ciaran Tanham / Gerry Nelson).
In Film work, he edited the Oscar nominated short film “Pentecost” (Dir: Peter McDonald) which also won Best Irish Short Film in the Cork Film Festival & Best Short Film in the Chicago Irish Film Festival. Also recently completed is the Documentary “Good Cake, Bad Cake: The Story of LiR” (Dir: Shimmy Marcus). This feature length documentary tells the inside story of one of Ireland’s most hyped bands of the early 90’s and their quest to conquer the music business. The film is due to be screened in Festivals in 2011.
