The Eclipse

  • Client: Treasure Entertainment
  • Director: Conor McPherson

The Eclipse tells the story of a widower, played by Ciaran Hinds, who is haunted by ghostly visions. When he volunteers at a local literary festival and meets fiction author Iben Hjejle’s Lena and narcissist Aidan Quinn, they all become entangled in dark mysterious events.

The Eclipse was shot in 4K on the Red One camera, and post-produced in 2K. Throughout the five week shoot, Windmill created a Red One data workflow. The data which was received daily, was backed up and file converted into HD DPX files thus providing Editor Emer Reynolds with very high quality HD dailies for her edit.

After picture locking at Christmas, the film was conformed in 2K DPX file format and taken into the Baselight DI theatre for a two week grade with Dave Hughes. Thanks to the unique Truelight 3D LUT system used exclusively by the Baselight, we delivered in a quick and timely fashion, the director’s desire for a classic 35mm look. This system of 3D look-up tables guarantees a calibrated emulation of the finished 35mm print as it would look projected in a cinema.
