Augmented reality experience for Eircom Spider Awards.
To create an augmented reality experience for people attending the Eircom Spider Awards Ceremony “Ireland’s premier online awards” and create a social media tie in to enter a competition for a holiday.
The title sponsor Eircom and Leo Burnett Advertising Dublin commissioned Windmill Lane Digital to create this experience/
The Solution:
The Leo Spider app was created to bring to life the award handed out on the night. We modelled the spider in Softimage XSI and created rigging and animation for the spider. The model was then brought to life in Unity and we used the String SDK to create the expereince for iPhone
Users were asked to download the Eircom Spiders app on the night of the awards and point their iPhone’s camera at the tracking marker at which point the spider danced and even crawled in any direction the user tapped on on their phones screen.
Users where then asked to take a snapshot using the app and upload the image of the spider to facebook, the most creative picture uploaded to the Eircom spiders Facebook page won a holiday for two.
